Depression a common Foe
Depression is the fundamental cause of disability. Globally it's an extensively rampant psychic disease. More women than men are suffering from this disorder. Here, my concern is not about clinical depression which is drastic and major, but the ordinary depression that is experienced by almost everyone. The silent rival clings to us and paralyzes our entire nervous system. Consequently, we lose control over emotions, react aggressively, and feel discontented. It comes as a bolt from the blue, interferes with our ability to work significantly we lose interest in things we normally enjoy. Loss of energy, poor concentration, changes in appetite, mood swings, recurrent thoughts of unsatisfaction, and gloomy disposition are some symptoms.
How our brain perceives depression:
It's
common lore that emotions are connected to the heart whereas science claims it
is the brain that solely controls our emotions. This is scientific evidence
that a few chemical low or high level determines our mood. But apart from
these chemicals, this is Amygdala in our brain the place that is associated
with emotions, feelings, and excitement.
When we are depressed the action in this area springs the nervous system into action, releasing
hormones that prepare us to either fight or flight (to move away). The impact lasts even after we recover from that fit of
emotion. This brings about sadness and awfulness.
The attitude and perception of people:
Women are sensitive even a pinch of sarcasm, criticism, or satire can make them feel blue throughout the day. A female perceives her devotion to work and home as fading when any of the family members ridicule her for lacking in mismanagement. She confronts the stress of her work, office, house chores, children, performance, and in-laws. Where she is not only saddled with responsibilities but also has to take care of the moods of everyone. She is expected to do everything aptly and give her 100%/ without grumbling. To add to the fuel, after fulfilling the criteria of expectations, she never receives a token of gratitude that can bring her a smile. The unappreciated behavior of our society made her so much unhappy. The consistent feeling of unhappiness lingers on for a long time resulting in clinical depression. Which can be treated by medication. She is told by the doctor swords like rest, recreation, and self-maintenance are anonymous to her.
Motivate Yourself:
Stress, anxiety, and depression can't dwell longer if you are aware of the causes and trying to find out the solution. Keep yourself motivated by thinking positively. The easy way is to count your blessings, not your woes. Be thankful to God and seek help from Him. When we rigorously pray we find someone who is there to defend us and eradicate our worries and fears.
